The Story

How Nigeria Changed
Healthcare History.

The Problem

A continent importing its own health.

For decades, Nigeria — and Africa — depended entirely on imported diagnostic test kits to detect malaria, HIV, hepatitis, and other diseases killing millions every year. Long supply chains. Inflated costs. No control. Life-or-death delays when global supply chains broke down.

The Solution

Full technology transfer. Full local production.

In February 2024, NASENI and TROMENT Nigeria Limited signed a historic MoU — backed by Vision Biotechnology, a European diagnostics leader with 25+ years of experience — to build Nigeria's first, fully independent rapid diagnostic test manufacturing facility in Idu, Abuja.

The Future

Nigeria as Africa's diagnostic powerhouse.

With WHO Pre-Qualification and Health Canada registration in progress, and a production capacity of 600 million tests per year, NASENI-TROMENT is positioned to export across ECOWAS's 450 million people — and beyond.

The Facility

One building.
Africa's most capable
diagnostic facility.

Built from a greenfield site in October 2024, the NASENI-TROMENT factory is now over 80% complete — and already the most advanced diagnostic manufacturing facility on the African continent.

Uncut Sheet Technology

Lateral-flow diagnostic test strips manufactured end-to-end — from raw material to finished product — entirely on-site.

Plastic Cassette Molding

The only facility in Africa molding diagnostic cassettes in-house. True independence — not assembly, not packaging under license.

QA/QC & Molecular Lab

Dedicated Quality Assurance, Quality Control, regulatory, and molecular biology facilities — built to ISO 13485 standards.

Tour the Full Facility
It is the only facility in Africa to manufacture 100%, to have had a full technology transfer, and who is totally independent in its strategy of production.

Why It Matters

Faster diagnosis.
Fewer deaths.
More jobs.

Nigeria accounts for a significant share of the global HIV burden, sees 58 million malaria cases per year, and has the third-highest maternal mortality rate in Africa. Local diagnostics change that equation — permanently.

  • Early detection of malaria, HIV, hepatitis — saving lives at the point of care, not weeks later.
  • 200+ direct jobs created; thousands more across supply chain and logistics.
  • No more dependence on foreign suppliers — Nigeria controls its own healthcare supply chain.
  • Export capacity for all 15 ECOWAS member states and international markets.
  • Aligned with UN SDG 3, Nigeria First policy, and Africa's 2030 health agenda.
